biography
Born in 1984, Chloé Charody's infatuation with musical composition flourished from an early age, resulting in a considerably vast and varied output of works, fusing the abundant genres of Western classicism and modern day popular styles. On completing her Bachelor of Music @ The Sydney Conservatorium of Music and winning The Doris Burnett Ford Scholarship for composition in 2003 and again in 2006 her output of works had amassed to 11 string quartets, numerous varieties of chamber ensembles, 2 operas, 12 solo instrumental works, a set of piano preludes, works for voice and piano, chamber orchestra and 3 symphony orchestral works.
Chloé's orchestral work 'Shades of Light' came runner up in the 2mbs fm Young Australian Composer of the Year award in 2006 and finally she won it in 2007 with 'To Breathe through Shadows of Decree'. Her her solo violin caprice "Mr Leprafin" won best Australian work at the 2007 Kendall National Violin competition, performed by Sonja Shebeck for whom she has subsequently completed a set of violin caprices to be premiered by by Sonja in the 2008 Ilythian Ensemble concert series. It is with this classical musical training that Chloé has branched out into the field of popular composition to meld the beauty of these two sound-worlds into one world of endless sonic possibilities, and it is with this new style that Chloé was commissioned to compose a brand new cabaret show for Moët & Chandon entitled "La Boîte De La Musique" as well as several film scores throughout 2007 & 2008.
Chloé's opera 'The Music Box' composed in 2006, has received airplay throughout Sydney & Melbourne and is now currently being developed into an animated feature film re-title 'The Rat Prince'.
2008 has also seen Chloé's musical expeditions travel into the sphere of Musical theatre where she has joined forces with 2 powerful theatre producers to produce 2 different musical theatre works that will begin their international tour in 2009.
2008 will see the tour of The Ilythian ensemble to 13 different towns throughout NSW, where her music will be showcased by The Ilythian Ensemble, comprising of the highly talented Miss Ambre Hammond & Sonja Schebeck.
2008 will also see the release of Chloé's first solo classical album on the Vision Fugitive record label in June, and the release of the album 'Symphonic Chill-out's' an album co-written by Chloé & Elias Constantopedos to be released on the Vision Fugitive label in July 2008.
